Stone guide

Every stone, in plain language.

What it looks like, which month it belongs to, and what it has traditionally been associated with. We describe tradition — not treatment. None of this is medical advice, and we encourage you to be sceptical of anyone who claims otherwise.

Sizing

Measure once, wear it for years.

If you are between sizes or unsure, choose the "not sure" option in the design studio and we will help you get it right — including a free printable ring sizer.

Bracelets

Wrap a strip of paper around your wrist

Measure snug, just below the wrist bone, and add 0.5 in for a close fit or 0.75 in for a relaxed one. For 10 mm beads add a further 0.25 in.

Rings

Measure the inside of a ring that fits

Measure the internal diameter in millimetres and match it to a US size. Or ask us for the free printable sizer — it is more accurate than a string.

Necklaces

16 in sits at the collarbone

18 in falls just below it and is the most popular length. 20 in sits at the top of the chest, 24 in below it. Every necklace ships with a 2 in extender.

Natural means variable

Colour zoning, inclusions and tiny size differences are how you know a stone is real. Two pieces in the same stone will never match exactly.

Looking after it

Warm water, a drop of mild soap and a soft cloth. Keep opal, pearl and turquoise away from perfume, chlorine and long sun exposure.

Nickel and skin sensitivity

Our gold-filled, vermeil and brass findings are nickel-free. If you are highly sensitive, sterling silver and gold-filled are the safest choices.
